“You call your new assembly of statues Without Annunciation and I assume that the title refers in part to this robbery of place and annihilation of domicile. Sculptures awaiting a ground on which to stand, to walk and to lie. Yet they are calmer than your previous figures and the calm makes their tragedy more unforgettable.
From where does such a calm come? Not from resignation. The fury against the injustice which is producing their suffering is as present as ever. Nor is it the result of fatigue; it’s a calm full of controlled energy, a form of endurance. From where does this endurance come?”
